Frequently asked
Answers, in plain language.
If your question isn't here, write to hello@oncology.scirouter.ai and we'll answer specifically — and add it here if it would help others.
Is SciRouter Oncology free for me as a dog owner?
Yes. The owner portal is free, forever, with unlimited dogs in a household. There's no upsell, no premium tier, and no “limited” free version. Optional services (genomic sequencing, personalized mRNA) carry per-case fees that are fully disclosed before any work begins.
Do I have to switch vets to use this?
No. SciRouter Oncology is built around your existing vet relationship. You invite your vet (and your specialty oncologist, if you have one) by email; they get a magic-link invite and can see whichever sections of your dog's record you choose to share. If your vet doesn't want to use the portal, the owner-side tools still work for you — you can just bring printouts to your appointments.
Will my dog's data be sold?
No. We don't sell records to pharma or anyone else. With your explicit opt-in, your dog's de-identified record contributes to the network cohort that powers the comparator and translational research. You can revoke that consent at any time, and the record comes out of the cohort immediately.
What does “de-identified” actually mean here?
Identifiers (your name, your dog's name, microchip number, exact dates, exact addresses) are stripped before any record enters the cohort. What remains is the clinical and outcome data — diagnosis, mutations, treatments, response, quality-of-life trajectory, side effects — which is what makes the cohort useful to vets and researchers.
How do you make money if it's free for owners?
Vet seats (free up to 10 active patients, then $99/month per vet) and per-case services chosen by owners (genomic panels, personalized mRNA, etc.) are the revenue stack. The free owner portal is the workspace effect: the more families and vets use the same record, the more useful the platform becomes for everyone.
Does pet insurance cover what you offer?
Many policies do, partially or fully — Trupanion, Nationwide, ASPCA, Embrace, MetLife Pet, and others reimburse cancer diagnostics and treatment. We surface the estimated reimbursement on every line item before you commit, and we can pre-build claims for your carrier so you don't have to chase paperwork.
Can SciRouter Oncology diagnose my dog?
No. We're a clinical decision-support tool. We surface evidence to inform your veterinarian's decision; the diagnosis and the prescribing decision belong to your licensed vet. We don't establish a veterinary-client-patient relationship — that is and remains between you and your vet.
Is the personalized mRNA vaccine available right now?
For most cancers and most dogs, not yet. The personalized mRNA neoantigen program runs under USDA-CVB conditional licensure and university IACUC trial wrappers, currently in partnership with veterinary teaching hospitals. We'll match eligible patients to active trials when their cancer type and mutation profile fit. The standard-of-care tools — genomics-guided drug matching, cohort-comparator outcomes, AI-scribed SOAP notes — are available regardless.
What happens to our data if my dog passes away?
All transactional and marketing emails pause immediately when you mark the care state as Passed. The record archives to read-only. We do not run reactivation pings or grief funnels. Whether your dog's record continues to contribute to research is your choice (and you can change it at any time). If you ever want the entire account and all records deleted, write to delete@oncology.scirouter.ai and we'll do it within 24 hours, no questions asked.
What languages does the portal support?
English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Mandarin on the owner-facing surfaces. Vet and admin surfaces are English-only for now. The locale toggle is in the top nav.
Where does my dog's data physically live?
Application database: managed Postgres on Railway in US-East. Documents and DICOM imaging: S3-compatible object storage with server-side encryption and per-tenant keys. Model inference routes through SciRouter to RunPod (GPU) and Railway (CPU) — no third-party model APIs handle your dog's data without an explicit consent flag from you.
What technical security do you have in place?
HIPAA-equivalent technical controls even though dogs aren't legally covered. Encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, MFA on every vet and admin seat, audit log on every record read and write, immutable backups, and separate buckets per data class.
Are you FDA-cleared?
FDA doesn't apply to veterinary clinical decision-support of this kind. The relevant regulator for veterinary biologics (including the personalized mRNA program) is USDA-CVB, and we run that pathway under conditional licensure or university IACUC trial wrappers in partnership with academic veterinary medical centers.
Can I use this in the EU, UK, Canada, Australia?
Right now we're US-only at launch. EU and UK rollout requires the GDPR addenda (data-residency, formal SCCs, country-specific data-protection officer); we won't knowingly accept signups from those regions until that's done. If you're in one of these regions and want to be notified at launch, write to eu@oncology.scirouter.ai, uk@oncology.scirouter.ai, or au@oncology.scirouter.ai.
I'm a veterinarian. Where do I start?
See For vets for the capability deep-dive. Vet seats are free up to 10 active patients while we're in early access. Email vets@oncology.scirouter.ai to set up a 30-minute walkthrough.
I want to share my dog's story.
Write to stories@oncology.scirouter.ai. You write everything that appears, you choose the photos, and you can take it down at any time. We do not solicit stories from grieving families.
